Top Festivals on the Isle of Wight in August27th July 2017
There’s no party like an Isle of Wight party. And there’s no wider variety of events in such a short space of time, in such an exciting location. If you’re heading to the Isle of Wight in August, make sure to check out the top festivals taking place over this fun and sunny month.
West Cowes, 29 Jul – 5 Aug
Where would we be without Cowes week? Starting in late July, Cowes Week continues into August with an incredible line-up of events, including world class racing in a regatta that is the largest of its kind in the world. The excitement continues on land with shore side parties, music and of course a bevy of thirst-quenching drinks all week long.
Ventnor Fringe Festival
08 – 13 Aug
Ventnor plays host to 300+ artists over the course of six days. You can expect to be spoilt for choice when it comes to pop-up bars, boutiques, market stalls and entertainment. It’s an award-winning arts festival, so you truly are getting a world-class cultural experience on one of the best islands on the planet.
V-Dub Island Festival
Newport, 11 – 13 Aug
Hundreds of camper vans, beetles, golfs and other oddities descend on the Isle of Wight each August and it’s a sight to behold for any Volkswagen enthusiast. This part music festival, part car show is equally fun for adult petrolheads and any children that might be in tow.
Jack Up the 80s
Smallbrook Stadium, 11 – 13 Aug
Relive the 80s with this family-friendly festival favourite. Don your parachute pants and practice the safety dance; you’ll need it when the party starts and hundreds of revellers turn Smallbrook Stadium into one big genre mashup. Highlights include new romantics club nights, and live performances from Jason Donovan, Bruce Foxton of The Jam and Right Said Fred.
Isle of Wight Scooter Rally
Ryde, Sandown, 25 – 28 Aug
Scooter pilgrimages have been part of the Isle of Wight calendar since the 60s, and every year the island hosts thousands of bikes and their smartly dressed riders to enjoy breath-taking scenery, good music and great company.
Cowes Classic Powerboat Race
West Cowes, 26 – 27 Aug
Twenty boats set out from West Cowes each year to test the almighty speed of the power boat class. It’s a 200 mile course but despite its length, on a calm sea, the quickest boat can cross the finish line in under three hours.
